Tends to act like a farm boy, but it's mostly an act. He's big but easily pushed around.
Interests
Computers, books, playing his guitar, planning trips to distant worlds that he'd like to visit. He is very interested in starship operations and learning about everything about starships. He also likes astronomy and archeology.

To make his parents proud and maybe accomplish some fastastic things in Starfleet. Meet a nice woman (done) and start a family.

Mainly inexperience. Because of this, Geoff often worries that he might freeze in a critical situation.
Skills
He is strong, from growing up on a farm with parents who didn't believe in technology. And because of this lack of technology, Geoff was driven to learn as much as he could about computers. He was also on his high school wrestling team as well as track and field team. He also enrolled himself in a basic flight-training course for commercial freighters.

Childhood and adolescence
Growing up in a small town in Western Kansas, Geoff never knew his real parents, but his adoptive parents treated him better then gold. Geoff grew up not on a farm with old fashioned folks that didn't like to depend on technology when the work could be done by hand. While in school, Geoff tended to understand computers and programming a lot better then most students and was applauded by his friends when he won a tech scholarship to a university of his choice.
Always looking at the stars from the loft of his barn, Geoff turned down the scholarship and applied to Starfleet, much to the horror of his adoptive parents. To make them feel better, Geoff said he'd take a flight training course with a friend of his father's. Learning the skills to pilot small shuttles and freighters, Geoff showed a natural talent, though he disliked situations that involved no gravity, and graduated at the top of the class. This finally convinced his parents that this was Geoff's dream and that he would be fine. Geoff and some of his friends headed to SF Academy with his parents blessing.
2385: USS Poseidon NCC 89515
In May 2385 the Ashton couple transferred to the USS Poseidon where Geoff reprised the same position. Lt Cdr Ashton and his family transferred out in October.
