The USS Shran is the forward picket ship in the Poseidon Carrier Group. Like her sister Tethys, her primary role is to cruise several light-minutes ahead of the Poseidon scanning for contacts. Captain Anjuli is the ranking officer in charge of the defense of the Poseidon during combat. The Prometheus-class starship gives the Group a distinct advantage during engagements. While three starships usually possess enough defensive capabilities the Multi-Vector Attack Mode of the class allows what was once three starships to become seven extremely powerful vessels.

Captain Anjuli is a tactician of some renown having written several papers on modern starship combat strategy. She looks upon the Carrier Group as a great test bed and the next 'tactical'generation for Starfleet Deployment. Anjuli and Phillips attended the Academy together forming a lasting friendship. At the Academy they were often referred to as 'The Dynamic Duo'apparently in reference to a pair of 20th century comic book characters.

The USS Tethys is the rear picket ship in the Poseidon Carrier Group. Her primary role is to cruise several light-minutes to the aft portside of the Poseidon scanning for possible hostiles. Should any unknown contacts be detected the information is relayed to the Poseidon's Combat Information Center (CIC) and prioritized by threat level. The duty Combat Aerospace Patrol (CAP) is routed to the unknown's location for close range scans and identification. The Tethys and her sister ship the Shran send constant subspace telemetry to the Poseidon giving the Carrier Group superior long-range detection.

Captain Phillips has been called brash, and aggressive. She has proven herself a fine Captain in a number of non-combat situations, much to her detractor's surprise. Captain Phillips volunteered for the Carrier Group and was selected from a pool of thirty Captains. She means to make history as a member of this unit. Only History knows what it has in store for her.
